Peshawar’s Khyber Medical University has dismissed an officer of Grade 18 for harassment of a female student while another staff member of Grade 17 has been demoted.

According to the policy of the Higher Education Commission, the university administration has also banned ‘intimate relationships’ between staff members and students to prevent incidents of harassment on campus.

The Chairperson of Harassment Cell in the University, Dr. Barikhna Jameel, said that four cases of harassment had come to light in Khyber Medical University. has been demoted.

He said that after the cases of harassment in Khyber Medical University, according to the policy of the Higher Education Commission, a ban has been imposed on ‘close relations’ between staff members and students to prevent incidents.

According to the university administration, severe punishments for violating the policy are proposed, including suspension, dismissal, fine, withholding of degree and revocation of professional license.
