A major decision has been taken by the federal government regarding the chairmanship of the Pakistan Cricket Board.
Sources say that it has been decided to appoint Mohsin Naqvi as the next chairman PCB. The approval of the appointment of Mohsin Naqvi was approved by caretaker Prime Minister and PCB Patron-in-Chief Anwar Kakar.
Mohsin Naqvi will be appointed Patron’s representative in the PCB Board of Governors.
It should be noted that the Chairman PCB cannot be directly elected by the Prime Minister. After appointing the representative, the governing board of PCB elects the chairman through voting.
According to the rules, the current prime minister is the patron of the PCB, which has already approved Mohsin Naqvi’s nomination.
PCB’s governing board consists of 10 members and it is likely that Mohsin Naqvi will take over the post vacated by Zaka Ashraf.
After becoming a member of the board, Naqvi will be able to contest for the PCB chairmanship. However, it is not clear when Naqvi will become part of the PCB as he is still the chief minister of Punjab.
It should be noted that in 2013, Najam Sethi, who served as caretaker chief minister of Punjab, was made the chairman of PCB.
