The Torkham border crossing was opened for commercial activities 10 days later, after which the first cargo vehicle from Afghanistan entered Pakistan.
According to customs sources, Afghan drivers have been given time till March 31 to prepare travel documents. From April 1, cargo vehicles without travel documents will be prohibited from entering Pakistan.
Customs sources say that the decision to open the Torkham border was made between the Afghan Consul General in Peshawar and the Pakistani authorities.
Customs officials say the travel documents for cargo vehicles were decided by the federal government, which began to be implemented on January 13 when Afghan officials closed the border to trade.
