The Supreme Court has sought a report from Karachi Mayor Murtaza Wahab in two months regarding the generators placed on the footpaths in Karachi.

Justice Mansoor Ali Shah remarked that the obstruction should be removed but pollution is a bigger problem.
Mayor Karachi Murtaza Wahab appeared in the Supreme Court during the hearing of the case against the large generators placed on the footpaths in the Supreme Court and said that more than 500 generators are lying on the footpaths in different areas of the city.
According to Mayor Karachi, few generators are causing pollution by emitting smoke. These generators belong to many private institutions including banks and hospitals.
Justice Mansoor Ali Shah asked Murtaza Wahab to identify the generators which are causing pollution. If the generator is lying on the sidewalk, the pedestrian will also move slightly to the side.
