The Lahore High Court has reserved its decision on a petition against the law to withdraw electoral symbols from political parties.
Justice Shahid Bilal Hasan heard the petition filed by Azhar Siddique Advocate.
It has been said in the petition that Section 215 of the Election Act is against the Constitution and fundamental rights, the power of the Election Commission to withdraw election symbols from a party is against the Constitution.
In the petition, the position was adopted that the Supreme Court has declared that the party election cannot have any effect on the general elections.
In the petition, it was requested that the court declare Section 215 of the Election Act null and void, and declare the withdrawal of PTI’s electoral symbol by the Election Commission as illegal.
The lawyer of the Election Commission said that all the positions have been mentioned in the decisions of the Peshawar High Court and the Supreme Court.
The court inquired that which organization has to see all this?
On which the federal lawyer said that it is written in the decision of the Supreme Court that all this has to be seen by the Election Commission.
The petitioner’s lawyer said that the Election Commission is neither a court nor a tribunal.
