In the federal capital, Islamabad, an incident of fraud of millions of rupees has come to light from two hotels through an app that creates fake receipts. The police of Abpara police station have arrested a member of a gang who used to order food worth lakhs of rupees from various hotels and cheat them through fake receipts.
According to media reports, it was recorded in the FIR that the gang used to order food and transfer the money to the hotel’s bank account and send the receipt on WhatsApp. After which food was ordered through online taxi.
In two separate FIRs, the hotel owners have stated that from January 4 to January 20, they were receiving calls on WhatsApp from an international number.
During this period, this group caused a loss of 980,000 to a big hotel and more than 196,000 to another well-known and historical hotel.
The callers identified themselves as property dealers from a posh society in Islamabad. According to them, they have parties every other day, so they need food.
According to Do News, the hotel manager Muhammad Ayub said that the fraudsters used to send receipts for more than the bill and said that the extra money would be given in cash to the person who came to pick the order. Apart from the food bill, the cash was also limed.
He said that when the food order receipts were calculated, they were fake and the money was not transferred to the account even once.
