PML-N Chief Executive and Senior Vice President Maryam Nawaz resigned from the National Assembly seat.

Maryam Nawaz was elected from Constituency 119 of the National Assembly in the general elections.
Maryam Nawaz has sent her resignation to Election Commission.
It should be noted that PML-N has nominated Maryam Nawaz, who was also successful in the seat of the provincial assembly, for the chief ministership. Therefore, she will not retain the seat of the national assembly.
By law, an elected member can hold only one seat.
The meeting of the Punjab Assembly has been called today in which the members of the Assembly will take oath after which the new Speaker will be elected while the Chief Minister will be elected in the next phase.
A heavy contingent of police has been deployed outside the assembly in view of PTI’s protest.
