The Peshawar High Court has ordered to remove the name of former Speaker National Assembly Asad Qaiser from the Exit Control List (ECL).
Peshawar High Court Justice Shakeel Ahmed and Justice Sahibzada Asadullah heard the petition filed against inclusion of PTI leader Asad Qaiser name in ECL.
The petitioner’s lawyer, Moazzam Butt Advocate, said that Asad Qaiser, the former speaker of the National Assembly, was on his way to perform Umrah and was stopped.
Justice Sahibzada Asadullah inquired that when was the name of Asad Qaiser included in the ECL? On which the lawyer said that on June 23, his name was put in the ECL.
Justice Shakeel Ahmed inquired that he has now been elected as a member of the National Assembly. To which the petitioner’s lawyer replied that yes, he is a member of the National Assembly and a senior politician.
On June 23, 2023, the court declared the order to include Asad Qaiser name in the ECL as unconstitutional.
The Peshawar High Court has ordered the immediate removal of former Speaker National Assembly Asad Qaiser name from the ECL.
