The requirement to give 5% tickets to women candidates on general seats in general elections has confused political parties.

Political parties claim women’s rights, but no progress is seen in terms of women’s representation in Karachi for the general elections to be held on February 8.
Jamaat-e-Islami and Tehreek-e-Labeek have not issued tickets to any woman.
The women’s section of Jamaat-e-Islami is considered to be very active, but no female candidate has been fielded in the election field.
JUI has issued a ticket to a woman candidate but she could not start her election campaign.
On the other hand, PPP, PML-N and JUI have made women candidates in constituencies where their chances of winning are less.
MQM issued tickets to 3 women in which Fauzia Hameed from NA 229, and Asia Ishaq from NA 232 have started their campaign.
PPP has issued tickets to 5 women, in which Shahida Rahmani and Shamim Mumtaz are very active in increasing contact with voters in their constituencies.
The Muslim League issued the maximum number of 9 tickets to women in Karachi but chose constituencies where the party does not have any significant influence.
