Later, Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq announced the results of the election for the Prime Minister in the National Assembly and said that Shehbaz Sharif was elected as the Prime Minister of Pakistan with 201 votes. Shehbaz Sharif was elected as the 33rd Prime Minister of Pakistan.
The speaker further said that Umar Ayub Khan, the candidate supported by the Sunni Unity Council against Shehbaz Sharif, got 92 votes while a total of 293 votes were cast.

PML-N nominee Shahbaz Sharif, PML-N leader Nawaz Sharif, former president Asif Zardari and PPP chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and other members of the National Assembly are present in the House.

Prime Ministerial Candidates
Nominated Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is the joint candidate of Muslim League-N and allied parties, while Umar Ayub Khan will be his opponent from the Sunni Ittehad Council.
Shahbaz Sharif has the support of Muslim League-N, People’s Party, MQM, Balochistan Awami Party, Stabilization Pakistan Party, Muslim League-Q, while Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf is also supporting Sunni Etihad Council candidate Umar Ayub, Balochistan National Party, Jamiat. In the 336-member house, 169 votes are required to become the prime minister, the alliance has the support of 209 members in the house, while the number of Sunni Etihad Council members in the National Assembly is 91.
Procedure for selection of Prime Minister
According to the Constitution of Pakistan, a candidate for the election of the Prime Minister from the National Assembly must be a Muslim MNA.
On the order of the Speaker, the bells will be rung for 5 minutes before the commencement of the election process of the Prime Minister.
After the bells are rung, the doors of the House will be locked, after which no one can leave or enter the National Assembly Hall until the Speaker is elected.
After that, the Speaker will read out the names of the nominated candidates for the Prime Ministership of the National Assembly.
The Speaker allocates the right lobby for one nominated candidate and the left lobby for the other.
