Uganda yesterday dissociated itself from Julia Sibutande, who voted in favor of Israel at the International Court of Justice.
Julia Sibutande disagreed with the emergency measures that the Court of Justice ordered Israel to take to stop the massacre in Gaza.
The 17-member panel of the International Court of Justice ordered six special emergency measures to ensure the safety of Palestinian lives and property, including stopping and punishing the perpetrators of the massacre and allowing aid to reach Gaza. was
In a post on social media platform X, Uganda’s permanent representative and ambassador to the United Nations, Adonia Ibare, said that Justice Sebutende’s ruling is not representative of the Ugandan government’s position on the Gaza issue. He said that Uganda supports the Palestinian cause and has been expressing this position in the referendum on the United Nations platform.
It should be remembered that in December, South Africa approached the International Court of Justice for measures against Israel over the massacre in Gaza.
In its case, South Africa urged the International Court of Justice to order an immediate cease-fire in Gaza, but the International Court of Justice did not pressurize Israel for a cease-fire despite recognizing the deterioration of the situation in Gaza.
