The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Saturday conducted a successful mock exercise of the Election Management System (EMS) on pilot basis, yielding useful and encouraging results.

After the mock exercise, the ECP spokesperson said that the presiding officers were able to give overall satisfactory results. However, due to communication challenges at certain points during the exercise, some presiding officers faced minor problems in conveying the results.
He said that these challenges are being tackled immediately.
According to the Election Commission spokesperson, a comprehensive trial of EMS involving the participation of offices of Returning Officers (ROs) at 859 locations across the country was launched.
He said that this comprehensive test included measures for Fiber/DSL connectivity, EMS app login, its usage and results transmission and editing.
Transmission of results by Presiding Officers and compilation of results by Returning Officers through EMS was efficiently completed in this test.
It is worth noting that the primary goal of EMS is to compile and tabulate results at the RO level. Throughout this exercise, all ROs completed the compilation and tabulation of results without any issues.
