The Lahore High Court has issued a written decision to approve the nomination papers of Qaisara Elahi, wife of former Punjab Chief Minister Chaudhry Pervez Elahi.
A 3-member bench headed by Justice Ali Baqir Najafi of the Lahore High Court issued a 4-page written decision. The judgment said that Qaisara Elahi had submitted nomination papers from NA 64 and PP 32, the rating officers rejected the nomination papers on the grounds of objection. The court decision further said that the Election Appellate Tribunal also rejected the nomination papers of Qaisara Elahi. According to the judgment of the Appellate Tribunal, the petitioner gave one bank account for contesting elections from different constituencies, while according to records, Qaisara Elahi gave 3 different bank accounts for the three constituencies.
The decision said that in the light of the facts, the application of Qaisara Elahi is accepted, the nomination papers of Qaisara Elahi from NA 64 and PP 32 were accepted.
